"The Ripping Friends" cont'd . . .
Here are a few more vintage drawings from the Bauza Vault. I whipped up these model sheets based off of a really funny bit from an episode of "The Ripping Friends." Some of the shows would end off with a little segment called "Rip-A-Long with The Ripping Friends." The Ripping Friends would reach into a mailbag and read young viewers complaints about things that bothered them in everyday living. The Ripping Friends would then show up to the viewer's house and take care of the situation at hand. In this particular "Rip-A-Long" an old couple is being terrorized by a disgusting fat cat named "Mr. Pungent Puss." The Friends send Jimmy the Idiot Boy to save the day! This segment has a really funny gag where Mr. Pungent Puss takes a HUGE crap, and you can only see what is happening from the shadow on the wall (a gag that was later recycled in “Stimpy's Pregnant.”)

If cartoons are supposed to be funny drawings, then that is the ultimate cartoon! Just the sight of that cat makes me laugh my ass off! Thanks Bauza!

Hey Thanks for the great comments guys! I did those old models sheets waaaaaaay back when. I promise to start posting new stuff ASAP.
If I could post those cartoons on YouTube I would! Looking back, I thought the Ripping Friends was a pretty funny-ass cartoon show!
I just wish whoever has the rights to that show would get it on DVD soon!!!

I noticed that in the Ren & Stimpy cartoon "Naked Beach Frenzy" that Mike McDonald (A.K.A Rip from The Ripping Friends) did the voice for the harry life gaured.
QUESTION:
In "Naked Beach Frenzy" did you do the voice of the suvinear owener that sold Stimpy the thong?

To me, adding color to drawings like that almost takes something away from them. I'm glad I got to see them in their purest form. These are great.

- - - - - actually the man behind the voice . . . not to mention the inspiration for the design of the souvenier merchant was none other than Spumco Canada's JOSE POU (pronounced POO, unless he corrects you and then its POE).
He's was and still is one of the best buddies I had back in Ottawa.

When I was ten or so, I tried to make cartoons with a videocam mounted to a homemade wooden stand; The cam couldn't shoot one frame at a time so I had to press twice very quickly.. aah it was a mess, but very funny! I'd like to pick it up again, so I'll keep on reading to learn how cartoons are made today!
My favorite Ripping Friends episode is the one where our heros have there first date with Dr. Jean Pool. That to me is a CLASSIC Ripping Friends cartoon!
I like when Citrocet (sp???) get's the fart powers. That was some brilliant stuff. The Man Fron Next Thursday was cool as hell too.
I'm ashamed to say, I have never seen Indigestable Wad or The Muscle Magician (is that right??). I need this entire series. I loved every bit of what I'd seen.
Weekend Pussy Hunt still has the greatest potential of all Spumco projects in my opinion. If I had the money, I'd hire you guys to redo the enite thing and finish it just for me.

Hi Bauza, I just saw the Life Sucks animatic over at John K's blog - great work! You're really an inspiration... One question though - where/how did you get that wonderful music that plays all through the animatic? I've been looking around archive.org for something similar without too much luck. Is it something that was pre-recorded specifically for R&S?
